Red Bull × Tetris.
What happens when Tetris blocks start falling into a real city scene? For an episode of Red Bull Switzerland’s “60 Seconds” rap format — made while Red Bull was collaborating with Tetris — the intro drops the iconic blocks into filmed footage, briefly turning an urban street into a giant playfield before the rap begins.
relit handled the full VFX production: modelling, texturing and animating the Tetris blocks in Blender, particle simulations for the impacts, and compositing and integration in After Effects.
The trickiest shot has a tree sitting in the foreground, so the falling blocks needed to pass behind its leaves. Instead of manually rotoscoping every leaf, the studio built a custom masking setup in After Effects to isolate the foliage and sell the depth. Project lead, filming and edit by Claude Gabriel.
